A personal illustration of Martha, the last passenger pigeon. On the 1st September, 1914 she died in Cincinnati Zoo. Martha was the sole survivor of what may have been the most abundant bird on Earth. There were once 3 to 5 billion passenger pigeons, travelling in huge flocks all across North America but they were over hunted for a cheap source of protein.
